Own whom you are called to be

“Owning” who you are called to be, first involves “knowing” who you are called to be. Although it can be complicated to answer “who you are called to be”, there’s a simple way to understand.

“You are called” indicates the presence of someone who is calling. Owning your calling requires hearing and understanding what is being asked of you. For Christians, we are masterpieces of God’s creation, made for, and called for a purpose. To understand this calling, we are given the Word, which we need to read and meditate on.

You are marked! Marked with a purpose! Marked for transformation and impact! No two callings are the same and that’s the beauty of it. Callings are unique to individuals, making each person irreplaceable. Therefore, do not compare. Comparing births jealousy. Jealousy indices you to chase that which was originally not meant for you.

Amid our unique callings, we are all called to pray for each other, love each other, serve each other and worship the one True Living God.

Why should we pray?
Every relationship is strengthened by constant communication. The person we talk to and listen to the most is the one we become the closest to, and who we become most like. Therefore, choose to share everything about your day with Him and take all your burdens, and those of your loved ones, to the foot of the cross. The more you spend time sharing and listening to God, the more you will become like Him and comprehend His good call for your life.

How should we love?
Love is not a feeling. It is an action. We can love because He loved us first. Imitate His selflessness and be patient and kind to people around you. Know that love does not rejoice at wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth.

How to serve?
Remember, that the One worthy to be served came to serve. Serving others gets the focus off ourselves. It also teaches us humility, for it is done with our own two hands. So the next time the opportunity to serve presents itself, get up from your seat and get those hands of yours a little dirty. Do not stress, you can always wash them later.

Worship
He is your Creator. Creation can never outgrow the Creator. He is not limited by time, space and matter. Thus, worthy of our worship. And don’t you know, where He is worshiped to the fullest, there His power and miracles will be the strongest.

So, what are you waiting for? Own whom you are called to be.
Jesus loves you and so do I.
