The Greatest Love

Love is the most beautiful thing in this world. To love and to receive love, nothing compares to it. It brings people together and makes the world a better place to live. Have you ever loved someone so much that you could cross mountains for that person, just to put a smile on their face? Or cried in their sorrows and rejoiced in their triumphs? Have you prayed for their happiness and made them your first priority?

It is a great thing to do, to love with all our heart unconditionally and selflessly. But have you ever wondered where this thing called love originated? The Bible tells us that we love God because He first loved us. The very idea of love that everyone possesses today might come from great love stories we have heard, like the love between Romeo and Juliet, Heer and Ranjha - the greatest love stories of all time. But the greatest love beyond all comparison is that of our God's love for us.

For He died so that we (sinners) may have a chance to redeem our souls for eternity. God had nothing to gain from it but only to give people a chance of redemption. The love that God portrayed on the cross is the greatest indication of a selfless and pure love.

God showed love through His sacrifice. The Bible stresses on spreading love and forgiveness. Hence, let us forget all our grievances this day and make amends. Let's embrace our shortcomings and also the shortcomings of others. Let there be no space for hatred but lots of room for love. Begin by loving yourself, for you can't give love if you don't have it yourself. So, it's crucial that you love yourself first so that you can love others. Love is not only the romantic kind between a guy and a girl but love your family and friends. Let's love our enemies and neighbours just as God has taught us.

At a time like this, you may not be able to give much love but a tiny act of love and care could be instrumental to those who are desperate
